The Clarinet Section is one of the largest, and most important instrument families in the band! The clarinet has an enormous range! It can play very high and very low notes, making it one of the most versatile instruments. In fact, the clarinet even has its OWN FAMILY! In addition to the soprano clarinet (the one you will learn your beginner year) there is also: alto clarinet, bass clarinet, contra-alto clarinet, and contrabass clarinet! The larger instruments in the clarinet family resemble skinny saxophones with their curved bodies and upward facing bells made out of nickel silver!
